Packers GM excited about training camp progress of recent first-round picks

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst is happy with what he's seen out of recent first-round picks Lukas Van Ness and Jordan Morgan during training camp and the preseason.

Van Ness, the team's first-round pick in 2023, is locked in as a starter at edge rusher opposite Rashan Gary and has been disruptive throughout training camp, including during a dominant practice Monday.

"He continues to stack days, and he's productive and he's been really, really consistent," Gutekunst said. Tuesday morning. "I'm excited for what he's going to bring to us this year."

Not only is Van Ness healthy after battling through a thumb injury to start last year, but the Packers believe the experience he banked during his first two NFL seasons -- following a brief collegiate career at Iowa -- is really starting to pay off now.
