This week the Green Bay Packers have announced the annual sale of a collectible stockholders document for the price of $39.99 plus shipping and handling.
Some Packers’ experts, such as Jason Wilde, have expressed opposition to this new sale as a kind of money grab. Wilde has suggested that the Packers may be taking advantage of its fans with this promotion due to the fan base’s devotion to the organization.
Having listened to his arguments, I find that his opinion holds much merit.
I do see the increasing commercialization of the Packers brand as well as the expansion of the Lambeau Field experience that the team is creating with the purchase of the surrounding property for future development.
