The Green Bay Packers are prepared to use the franchise tag to keep Davante Adams out of free agency this offseason. According to a new report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers are “expected” to use the tag as a means of working toward a new deal with the superstar pass-catcher.

Adams, a first-team All-Pro at receiver each of the last two seasons, has an expiring contract. He would become an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year in March without a new deal or the team using the franchise tag.
