Packers designate K Alex Hale as international player, release Kenneth Odumegwu

With just days left in the 2024 preseason, it is difficult to decide which competition has inspired less excitement among Green Bay Packers fans: backup quarterback or kicker. On Wednesday, the Packers made a fringe roster move that offers them flexibility at one of those positions for the regular season, but costs them an intriguing young player at a different position in turn.

The Packers announced that they have transferred their international player designation from defensive end Kenneth Odumegwu to kicker Alex Hale. Hale, who is originally from Australia, has been a member of the organization for a few weeks and is mired in a three-way battle with Anders Carlson and Greg Joseph for kicking duties, but none of those players have impressed.
