Packers cut former Michigan WR who led team in receiving during preseason

Former Michigan wideout Cornelius Johnson led the Packers in receiving during the preseason but did not make their final roster.

With teams having to trim their rosters down to 53 players by Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline, Johnson was among Green Bay’s cuts. The 2024 seventh-round pick of the Chargers played in all three preseason games and totaled six catches for 50 yards.

He was released by Los Angeles last September before being signed to the Packers’ practice squad for the rest of the 2024 season. The 6-foot-3, 212-pounder could wind up with the organization’s practice squad once again in 2025 if he clears waivers.
