Opt-out deadline passes with no additional Packers choosing to sit out 2020

The deadline has come and gone for NFL players to decide to choose to opt out of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic, and no new Green Bay Packers have chosen to do so. With the Packers staying off of Thursday’s transaction wire, the team will enter 2020 with just one player sitting out the season: wide receiver Devin Funchess.

Funchess made his decision early on, announcing on July 28th, the date that the Packers were due to report for training camp. Leading up to Thursday’s deadline, it seemed unlikely that any additional Packers would join him, based on head coach Matt LaFleur’s comments today and earlier in the week.
