Oops: Refs give Packers free play against Lions after clock hits zero

The third quarter of the Detroit Lions’ game against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night was a disaster for a few reasons.

After taking a 24-point lead into halftime, the Lions allowed Green Bay to drive down the field on the opening series of the second half and make it a two-score game. Along the way, though, Lions fans were probably driven into a tizzy by the officiating. The Packers got a 15-yard boost when Alex Anzalone was flagged for unnecessary roughness for hitting Aaron Jones in-bounds.

But the worst call — or non-call — of the quarter was the stuff that Lions fans see in their nightmares.
