It should come as no shock that the Detroit Lions slipped in this week’s roundup of NFL power rankings after their 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers in Sunday’s season opener.
How far they fell, however, may or may not be surprising.
While one outlet still views the Lions as a top-five team, several others dropped them out of the top 10 altogether. Two outlets ranked Detroit as low as No. 14.
The common theme across most outlets was how poorly the Lions performed after losing eight assistants in the offseason -- particularly the offense’s struggles without former coordinator Ben Johnson, who now leads the Lions’ Week 2 opponent, the Chicago Bears.
