On Tuesday, NFL owners voted 32-0 to allow their players to participate in the 2028 Summer Olympics as flag football players. The 2028 Olympics, which will be hosted in Los Angeles, will be the first edition of the event that features flag football in competition.
Over the years, flag football has become increasingly important for the league. The NFL is pushing for the sport to be sponsored for girls at the high school level, they have used it to grow international participation and they’ve been playing a flag football game in place of an all-star game at the Pro Bowl for the past few seasons.
