This is is funny story. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck started out his career as an unheralded sixth-round pick with the Green Bay Packers. He spent his first season with the team on the practice squad. He then went on to bigger and better things during a 17-year NFL career.
It wasn’t always pretty for Hasselbeck, though. Obviously, he had to struggle to make the roster early on.
Hasselbeck played at Boston College. So what did he do in the offseason? Went back to Boston and threw the ball to any chump who agreed to catch it, apparently.
Back in 1998-2000 when I was trying to make the @packers, an insurance salesman in the Boston area ran routes for me instead playing pick-up hoops .
