How the Latest Robert Tonyan News Affects His Chances of Returning to the Packers

The Green Bay Packers got some positive news concerning tight end Robert Tonyan this week. A report on SI.com indicated that both the Packers and Tonyan’s agent believe that the former Indiana State star will be ready to start the 2022 season on time despite his ongoing rehab from a season-ending knee injury.

Tonyan is also an unrestricted free agent next week unless the Packers re-sign him to a new deal.

The Packers presently do not have a tight end on their roster who can stretch the field the way Tonyan did before he was injured. Tonyan was a wide receiver in college and has more downfield running ability than most tight ends.
