The Green Bay Packers have been forced to take a different financial path this year, as they have taken a more conservative approach. The Packers have basically maxed out their flexibility, extending or restructuring almost anyone possible to have the ability to operate after being in the top half of the league in cash spending in five of the last six years.
Right now, the team is 13th in the NFL in cap space, with $ 14.3 million, but there aren't many moves left to be made. The Packers are the second to last in cash spending, just ahead of the Los Angeles Rams, so they probably don't want to kick the can down the road as much to have a clearer salary sheet moving forward.
