Sheppard was one of several players released by Matt LaFleur's squad during Tuesday's 53-man roster cutdown.
After going undrafted this spring, Sheppard initially attempted to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but failed his physical before the signing became official. He eventually latched on with the Packers in July and, by all accounts, had a solid training camp, which was capped off last weekend with a touchdown grab.
Sheppard not making the Packers' 53-man roster should not come as a surprise with Green Bay's crowded wide receiver corps. First round pick Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks and Christian Watson were all seen as locks to make the roster, leaving few roles open in the wide receiver room.
