The newest member of the Green and Gold, Martellus Bennett, gathered the green, while Green Bay Packers GM, Ted Thompson, struck the gold yesterday when the two agreed to a three-year, $18.45 million deal to bring the Super Bowl champion tight end to Wisconsin.
Getting Bennett for less than what the Packers were offering former tight end Jared Cook has to be one of Thompson’s best deals, money-wise.
The Packers are getting a 30-year-old veteran of the game, a smart guy whose physical abilities are through the roof, and a player who should seamlessly slide into the Packers offense.
