Former Green Bay Packers executive dies; Dick Blasczyk kept a close watch on team spending

Blasczyk, 87, worked for the Packers from 1976-1994, retiring as the team's controller.

He was a Pulaski native and 1951 graduate of Pulaski High School. He served in the U.S. Army before he married Mary Ann Karcz and worked for nearly 20 years at Karcz Ford in Pulaski as finance manager.

Blasczyk was friends with a Packers executive committee member who encouraged him to apply for an accountant position with the team when the job came open. He joined the team in 1976.

Before becoming president and CEO of the Packers, Bob Harlan had an office next to Blasczyk, who could hear Harlan's negotiations with players.
