Doubling Down in Free Agency and the Draft

In the 2019 off-season, the Green Bay Packers were looking to reshape their defense. So, they decided to spend a bit of the money they had available to them at the time and sign Za'Darius Smith and Preston Smith as their edge rushers and they also signed safety Adrian Amos. Holes in the new defense filled and on to the offense right? Not so fast. With two first-round picks in the 2019 draft, they selected another edge rusher in Rashan Gary and also in the first round drafted Darnell Savage, a safety. It was met with a bit of criticism at the time.
