Cheese Curds, 4/12: Packers say goodbye to old friends

The Green Bay Packers are saying goodbye to two people who are highly respected in the organization this week — one goodbye coming as the result of retirement and another after a former assistant coach has passed away amid complications from various illnesses.

On the more positive note, the Packers are looking forward to sending their equipment manager of three decades into retirement. Red Batty has been a constant presence at and around Lambeau Field for as long as most of the Packers’ players have been alive, and it will surely be strange for the team’s veterans to walk through the locker room without him being a part of their routine.
