Cheese Curds, 2/8: Salary cap expected around $180M, Rodgers & Woodson honored

It was a wild Saturday for Green Bay Packers fans. The day got started with news that the team’s first choice for the vacant defensive coordinator job, Wisconsin’s Jim Leonhard, had turned down the Packers’ offer, preferring to stay in Madison. A few hours later, Joe Barry had the job, then a few hours after that two Packers legends earned massive individual honors.

Aaron Rodgers’ third MVP surely locks him in for an eventual enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, where former teammate Charles Woodson will be waiting for him.

But amid all of that, Sunday was a bigger day for the NFL as a whole, because the league’s expected salary cap number was unofficially revealed.
