DENVER, Colo. -- Mike McCarthy’s latest theme for the Green Bay Packers -- and yes, the coach loves his themes (remember Keep Calm and Carry On from 2013) -- sent many of his players on a Google search.
McCarthy went literary with his presentation of The Hero’s Journey, a device writers often use in storytelling.
"We kind of got a little Google update on that," quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. "He’s got something every week."
The idea of the Hero’s Journey, as described by writer Joseph Campbell is this: The hero leaves the familiar world behind, learns to navigate the unfamiliar world of adventure and then returns to the familiar world.
