Recently, a tweet by Pro Football Talk kicked off an age-old argument about outdoor football generally, and in cold climates specifically. I think this argument could use a more scientific approach.

When we have this argument, it’s often infected with recency bias. Many people will instantly recall the poor Miami Dolphins having to play in Kansas City last year in the playoffs, in what were truly dangerous conditions as a cold snap took over a large part of the US.
