Packers Rumors Roundup On Trading Down In The NFL Draft, Su'a Cravens And More

The NFL Draft is less than a week away, and there are plenty of Green Bay Packers rumors floating around. The Packers don't have many major needs, but could target defensive players early this year. However, Green Bay could go several directions in this year's draft. Let's get you caught up to speed with all the latest draft rumors, news and speculation surrounding the Packers

Packers Looking To Move Down?
The Green Bay Packers hold the No. 27 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, but they could be looking to move down. Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com reports that the Broncos and Browns have looked into moving up this year. The potential target for both teams would likely be Paxton Lynch, who the Chiefs could take right after the Packers. Campbell's report saying the Browns and Broncos have spoken with the Packers is an indication that his source is within the Packers' organization. General manager Ted Thompson has moved down in past drafts, and that could be the case this year. The Packers would likely get a 3rd from the Broncos or 4th from the Browns in a trade.

Miles Killebrew or Su'a Cravens An Option?
The Packers' biggest need is at MLB, where the need starting talent and depth. While getting Reggie Ragland would be ideal, he's unlikely to last until the No. 27 overall pick. That's why the Green Bay Press-Gazette says the team could take a hybrid safety like Utah State's Miles Killebrew. He's too slow to play safety, but could carve out a niche as a coverage MLB, just like Arizona's Deone Bucannon. Another players that fits that mold is USC's Su'a Cravens. Cravens could be a Round 2 pick, while Killebrew fits in the third round.

What To Do With Datone Jones?
The Packers will need to make a decision soon about LB Datone Jones. His fifth-year team option needs to be picked up by May 2nd, and it will cost the team at least $8 million. That's a steep price to pay for an OLB who has eight sacks in three years as a rotational player. At that price, it'd be a surprise to see the Packers pick up the option. But don't be surprised if the Packers try to give Jones a more team-friendly extension.
