Clay Matthews Injury News: Star LB to Miss at Least a Month

The Green Bay Packers are going to be without star linebacker Clay Matthews for at least a month, according to the latest reports. Matthews broke his thumb in Sunday's win over the Detroit Lions, and will have to undergo surgery in the coming week.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy doesn't believe the injury will cost Matthews the rest of his season, but was unwilling to disclose further information.

"I think we're all hopeful, but you have to get all the opinions and make sure you always do right by the player." McCarthy said.

Matthews was injured on the final play of the third quarter when he dropped Lions QB Matthew Stafford for a sack 12 yards behind the line. The Pro-Bowl linebacker has 18 tackles and three sacks so far on the season.
