LARAMIE — Long snapper is a position that tends to be ignored unless a problem arises. Unfortunately for the Wyoming football team, plenty of time was spent discussing the long snapper spot last season.
Because of an ACL injury to first-year starter Kolton Donovan, the Cowboys ended up using three different long snappers in 2017, none of whom remain on the team. Donovan was a graduate transfer from Southern Utah and is now making an attempt to catch on in the NFL. Backup snapper/fullback Drew Van Maannen also graduated. Caleb Cantrell, who snapped at times in place of Van Maanen following Donovan's injury, left the program.
