Women's volleyball: Gonzaga drops third straight game with loss to Portland

On Saturday, Gonzaga (6-14, 3-6 West Coast Conference) was defeated by Portland (16-5, 4-5) in straight sets.

Portland’s defense seemed to be an impenetrable force as the Zags struggled to score. Portland’s offense was on point as the Pilots doubled the Zags in kills with 48 and had 45 assists to GU's 23.

Head coach Diana Nelson was complimentary of Portland's attack.

“They are pretty versatile," Nelson said. "They had a lot of range offensively and they set a lot faster offense than we’re used to seeing”

The Zags seemed to be making the right adjustments toward a comeback, starting off both the second and third set off strong, but could not withstand the hitting of Portland, losing those two sets 25-19 and 25-17.
