LAS VEGAS — Gonzaga jumped out to a 34-point advantage early in the third quarter and held on to defeat the Pepperdine Waves 81-70 in the West Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals. The Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals on Monday where they will face fifth-seeded San Francisco at noon.

Jill Barta defends West Coast Conference Player of the Year crown
Fresh off a WCC Player of the Year award, Barta wasted no time in asserting herself against the Waves. She scored 12 first-quarter points and after Pepperdine cut the lead to 27-18 with a put-back layup from Peyton Langston early in the second quarter, she rattled off seven points to lead a 14-0 GU run.
