KNOXVILLE — First-year coach Jeremy Pruitt conceded earlier this spring that it is tough for him to compliment the offense. As a career-long defensive coach, he is still adjusting to wanting the other side of the ball to succeed. Thirteen practices have not changed that just yet.
His mixed feelings about Saturday’s scrimmage lent some positives for the offense, but for Pruitt it is a double-edged sword, as those quickly turned to critiques of his defense.
“One good thing, just looking at the scrimmage, I felt like offensively we created a few more explosive plays,” Pruitt said Tuesday.
