After opening the outdoor track and field season at the Buc Scoring Invitational on March 17, Gonzaga returned to Whitworth University on Thursday and Friday for the Sam Adams Invite.
On Thursday, Jordan Thurston won the 5,000 meters for the women in a time of 17:23.98 and teammates Elena Slavoski (fifth, 19:01.96), Monica Ripple (sixth, 19:08.37), Erin Boyle (eighth, 19:49.54) and Jenny Albrecht (ninth, 19:50.27) fell in line behind the senior.
For the men, Brandon Pollard and Mason Villarma notched wins in the 800 and 1,500 meters respectively. Pollard, after winning the 1,500 in 3:55.19 at the Buc Scoring Invitational, tallied his second victory of the season as the clock read 1:56.
