GREEN BAY — Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy has made little effort to hide his infatuation with recently acquired quarterback DeShone Kizer.
Kizer, who started 15 games for winless Cleveland as a rookie second-round draft pick last season, will battle Brett Hundley for the backup job behind Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, but McCarthy surprised people awhile back when he said the former Notre Dame quarterback has “starter ability,” possesses “exceptional arm talent” and was the equal of the five first-round quarterbacks in this year’s NFL draft.
So what is McCarthy’s impression of Kizer now that he’s seen him up close in three weeks of individual drills and two full-team OTA practices?
