Sometimes it felt like the defense couldn’t stop a seized engine from gaining ground. The 2017 draft was an opportunity to bulk up and change the outlook. And yet, the top decision makers targeted quarterback Patrick Mahomes with the 11th pick.
We’ll never know what the Saints would have done if both Mahomes and Marshon Lattimore were on the board since the Kansas City Chiefs jumped New Orleans to select the quarterback. It’s doubtful the Saints have any regrets about how things turned out considering Lattimore’s success, but that isn’t what matters.
