When the New Orleans Saints plucked Jonathan Williams off of Denver's practice squad in mid-November, the move was both a blessing and something of a curse.
Williams was on a 53-man roster, earning game checks for the first time since his rookie year in Buffalo.
He also wasn't playing. Brought to New Orleans as insurance for the brilliant tandem of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, Williams was never active, not for any of seven regular-season games or two games in the playoffs.
"A lot of people were saying, 'Oh, you're still getting paid!'" Williams said. "I'm a football player.
