Bowling Green's defense is starting over this spring.

At or near the bottom of every statistical category at the end of last season, the Falcons' defensive unit was overhauled with the hiring of defensive coordinator Carl Pelini.

Pelini was one of five new defensive coaches hired during the offseason, and he could have the most impact.

The former Nebraska defensive coordinator inherits a defense that is projected to return nine plays with significant starting experience, but also a defense that was poor in nearly every area.
