Packers will open 2018 season at home vs. Bears

GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers will open their historic 100th season with a prime-time Lambeau Field meeting with their longest-running rival: The Chicago Bears.

Two sources confirmed the teams will meet on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” on Sept. 9. ESPN.com first reported the date — and the full home slate of games — Thursday afternoon, hours ahead of the league’s official release of the 2018 schedule.

The Packers had requested to open the season at home to celebrate their centennial season, as they have planned a variety of events to commemorate it — including a concert in advance of the game.
