Packers beat out Saints, Redskins for Muhammad Wilkerson

The New Orleans Saints brought in former Pro Bowl defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson for a visit last week in an effort to bolster their pass rush up front.

But Wilkerson had already visited Green Bay, and he was on his way to Washington.

The Packers won the race for Wilkerson's service. Wilkerson, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, has agreed to terms with Green Bay, giving the Packers their second high-profile free agent who the Saints also pursued after locking up Jimmy Graham early Tuesday afternoon.

Wilkerson has a personal connection in Green Bay. Mike Pettine, the Packers' new defensive coordinator, was Wilkerson's defensive coordinator with New York when he was drafted in the first round in 2011.
