OKLAHOMA CITY — Bob Stoops said he wouldn’t get emotional during Friday night’s celebration for the legendary Oklahoma football coach.
Plenty of former players, coaches and friends made an effort to pierce Stoops’ feelings during the “Salute to Stoops” dinner held at Oklahoma City’s Bennett Event Center located on the fairgrounds.
The stories brought laughter and memories to the party which included 1,200 invitees.
Stoops’ statue was revealed during a three-hour program that included a concert by Toby Keith and a year-by-year video montage by Stoops about his favorite moments as the Sooners’ coach over 18 seasons.
