Cody Thomas understands how difficult it is to chase Oklahoma’s starting quarterback job while pursuing a possible professional baseball career.
Thomas was on OU’s football roster in 2014 and 2015 – seeing action in nine games and earning three starts – before choosing baseball only in 2016. He would get drafted and begin his pro career later that summer.
On Monday, a Kyler Murray watch coincides with the start of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. The OU quarterback and outfielder is a potential high draft selection. He hasn’t tipped his hand on a decision, but OU football coach Lincoln Riley said in Tulsa last Thursday that he isn’t concerned about a possible departure from the football program.
