NORMAN — If Orlando Brown’s rough showing at the NFL Combine leaves you with doubts, Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh can relate.
When Brown showed up at Oklahoma as an overweight freshman, Bedenbaugh never dreamed he would be coaching a future NFL prospect.
“I thought he was a bad player,” Bedenbaugh said. “I never knew that he would even have a chance to play here, really.”
The story has been told before, but back then, Brown was massively overweight. He had grade issues. His discipline and dedication were questionable at best.
But Brown eventually got serious and honed his craft.
