With the NCAA’s help, Larry Williams cleared the biggest hurdle to getting another year at Oklahoma State on Wednesday.
The NCAA Division I Council approved a rule change that alters the requirements for a sixth year of eligibility, directly affecting the situation for the Oklahoma State offensive lineman.
The new NCAA rule allows for a waiver to the five-year rule to be approved if a student-athlete redshirted his or her freshman year because of a school’s decision, then lost another season for reasons outside of his or her control.
Williams redshirted his first season at East Carolina.
