MOBILE, Ala. — Will Hernandez looks like a throwback NFL offensive lineman, and not just because he’s sporting the old Brian Cox neck roll and an echo of the whistle play style that would make some of the meanest old-school players proud.
The two-time All-American left guard from UTEP arrived in Mobile as one of the game’s more decorated and imposing linemen, yet still with a mission to remove any doubt about a Conference USA player’s ability to block the big boys — even if few of the more than 110 players here are bigger than Hernandez (6-2 ½, 340).
