GREEN BAY — Martellus Bennett might not have been missed around these parts after — in his ex-teammates’ words — quitting on the Packers last year, but his blocking skills certainly were.
So while the offseason addition of athletic pass-catching tight end Jimmy Graham certainly qualified as a free-agent splash, the move the team made Thursday — signing veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis for his blocking abilities — figures to make a few ripples in the Packers’ offense this season, too.
Lewis, whose visit to Green Bay was first reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, broke the news of his signing on Instagram when he shared a photo of himself putting pen to paper at Lambeau Field on Thursday evening.
