While the final score doesn’t show it, Gonzaga’s 81-67 win over Pepperdine on senior night Saturday was a back-and-forth battle.
“Hey, we got through it,” head coach Mark Few said. “I think you really got to give them credit for fighting and competing for the full 40 [minutes]. We had some bouts where we struggling to stop them and we had some bouts where we were struggling to score ourselves.”
The Zags never trailed, but the Waves came within two points with a little over seven minutes left at 66-64.
Late in the game, senior Johnathan Williams put the Kennel faithful back on their feet with two dunks and a block, to add to his eleventh double-double this season, finishing with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
