Gonzaga pitcher Daniel Bies earned his second West Coast Conference Player of the Week honor after helping GU defeat San Francisco over the weekend.
On Friday, Bies completed a 6-0 complete game shutout against the Dons, who are currently first in the WCC. This game was the right-handed pitcher’s third complete game of the season, but was his first career shutout. He struck out 11, walked one and allowed just six hits, with only one for extra bases. The shutout brought Bies’ WCC earned run average to 2.27 in six starts and his season ERA to 2.51. He has 51 strikeouts against 11 walks in 43 2/3 innings in league play thus far.
