The Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations & General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today guards Josh Perkins and Joe Chealey have been placed on waivers.
Josh, Gonzaga’s all-time assists leader, was not picked in this year’s NBA draft but did play with the Hornets Summer League team. His 7 points, 3 assists and 1 steal per game average in four appearances were good enough to get him invited to the Hornets training camp. He’s appeared in two Hornet’s preseason games, averaging 1 point, 3 assists and 2 rebounds per game.
According to At The Hive, the SBNation Charlotte Hornets fan-site, Perkins signed a “Exhibit 10” contract incentivizing he spend the season with the Hornets G-League team, the Greensboro Swarm.
