The Gonzaga University women’s basketball team won its third straight game on Saturday, defeating the red-hot UC Davis Aggies 83-72 in the Kennel.
Despite UC Davis’ four-game winning streak entering Saturday’s contest, GU was clicking on all cylinders in the first half, building a 29-point lead in the first 20 minutes. The lead grew to as many as 31 with 7:35 left in the third. Yet, the Aggies (7-3) wouldn’t go away, mounting an enormous comeback to cut GU’s lead to just seven with 4:27 to play.
However, GU’s Taylor Smith and Ines Bettencourt both hit huge jumpers to keep the lead out of reach.
