Gonzaga’s Board of Trustees approves funds for new athletic facility

The Gonzaga University Board of Trustee’s has approved a $24 million, 51,000-square-foot Center for Athletic Achievement, with construction scheduled to finish in the Fall of 2017, the Spokane Journal of Business reported on Tuesday.

The planning for the Center of Athletic Achievement surfaced back in the winter, and will help Gonzaga maintain a leg up in the recruiting world.

“Primarily we need it to service student-athletes and continue to be competitive in a very competitive environment,” Roth told the Spokesman Review.

The building will house the Gonzaga Athletics Hall of Fame, the Student-Athlete Academic Support Center, and a 5,000-square-foot multi-use event space on the west side of the McCarthey Athletic Center.
