The Gonzaga Bulldogs have been road warriors as of late and finally return home to Spokane to face off against their old enemies in the Saint Mary’s Gaels.
We should use “old” here as a term for the past, because this year’s incarnation of the Gaels lack the depth, threat, and overall standing to warrant a full-blown rivalry week theme.
Saint Mary’s comes limping into Spokane a bit. After opening the season with a loss to Memphis, the Gaels rattle off eight straight wins to look rather solid coming into conference play. However, the Gaels are just 2-4 against WCC foes, losing decisively to BYU and Gonzaga, and then owning two single basket losses against Santa Clara and Pepperdine.
