To open its final season in the conference, the Gonzaga University women’s basketball team swept the West Coast Conference weekly honors, with Allie Turner being named Player of the Week and Lauren Whittaker named Freshman of the Week.
The news comes as the Zags ride off the first week of the regular season 2-0 following road wins against North Dakota State and Toledo.
The team opened its final season before transitioning to the Pac-12 with a 81-66 win in Fargo, North Dakota, on Friday night before moving east and winning in Toledo 72-69 on Sunday.
Turner, who is the reigning WCC Freshman of the Year, averaged 17 points in the two games while playing in all but 13 minutes in the two games combined.
