In late January, news broke that the Gonzaga and North Carolina men’s basketball programs had verbally agreed to a home-and-home series for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. On Monday morning, an official date for the 2018-19 duel in Chapel Hill, North Carolina was set: Dec. 15.
Both the Bulldogs and Tar Heels project to be top-10 squads next season. The Zags lose seniors Silas Melson and Johnathan Williams, but return the rest of their rotation players from the 2017-18 season while adding a pair of talented frontcourt players in Brandon Clarke and top-60 recruit Filip Petrusev. Clarke redshirted last season but was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2016-17.
