To describe their new quarterback, Indiana coaches have used the words "amazed" and "surprised."
That's because Michael Penix is proving to be a quick learner.
Despite being merely three months into his college career, the freshman southpaw is acclimating to IU's offense faster than anticipated.
"I really am amazed that a guy coming in here – especially a quarterback coming in here, who started in January – on just what he knows," Indiana offensive coordinator Mike DeBord said. “He’s got great composure. He does a great job with the football right now. He’ll continue to get better as he continues to learn.
