Former Zag Ronny Turiaf keeps close tabs on men's basketball team despite being unable to watch most games

LOS ANGELES — In the bowels of the Staples Center, tucked in a corner by the Gonzaga men’s basketball team stood man who would probably would not have grabbed the attention of the common eye. Leaning against a wall touted in grey joggers, Vans shoes, a beanie and glasses stood Ronny Turiaf.

No stranger to the Staples Center, having played in the arena for the first two years of his professional basketball career and then one more in 2012, Turiaf was not there to relive his glory days, but instead to support the next wave of talent on a team that perhaps meant a bit more to him than the Lakers or Clippers — the GU men’s basketball team.
