Although Gonzaga University's six-year run of being a top-100 ranked school in the U.S. News and World Report rankings is over, its academic successes continue, especially for its student-athletes.
While the university is renowned for its perennially contending basketball programs, 226 of GU’s 350 student athletes earned some form of academic honors in fall 2024. That stat is one of many exhibiting the recent improvement of achievement in the classroom from Zag student-athletes, an increase that coincided with an expansion of GU's athletic facilities and the building of the Volkar Center of Athletic Achievement.
The construction introduced new state-of-the-art gyms and workout equipment to directly improve athletic performance, but also included the opening of the Rian G.
